چکیده
Background. Tablets are still the most preferred means of drug delivery. The search for new and improved direct compression tablet excipients is an area research focus. This because method overcomes drawbacks granulation methods production. It exempts several treatment steps associated with methods. requirements powders to be directly compressible include flowability, low friction tendency, compressibility, fast disintegration capacity. Taro Boloso-I a variety Colocasia esculenta (L. Schott) yielding 67% more than previously reported (Godare) in Ethiopia. study aimed at enhancing flowability while keeping compressibility compactibility pregelatinized starch. Methods. Central composite design was used optimization two factors which were temperature duration pregelatinization against 4 responses. responses angle repose, Hausner’s ratio, Heckel’s yield pressure, breaking force. Results Discussions. An increase resulted decrease both repose Hausner ratio that time decreased as well. Heckel pressure observed increasing levels time. starch prepared by heating 15% slurry 66.22°C 20 min showed desired flow property compressibility. Conclusions. Pregelatinized could regarded potential excipient terms compactibility. PGTBIS perform better filler binder tablets Starch 1500®

Evaluation of Abelmoschus starch as tablet disintegrant
Seed starch (16.0%w/w) obtained from Abelmoschus moschatus Linn. (Malvaceae) was employed as a disintegrant to paracetamol tablets at concentrations of 2.5-10.0% w/w. The granules prepared by wet granulation technique were evaluated for percentage of fines and flow properties. Tablet properties including thickness, content uniformity, average weight and weight variation, hardness, friability, d...
متن کاملThe Effect of Formulation Variables on the Release Kinetics of Paracetamol Tablet Formulations.
Aim: The objective of this work was to study the effects of formulation variables on the release kinetics of paracetamol tablet formulation. Materials and Methods: Paracetamol tablets were formulated using wet granulation (WG) and direct compression (DC) using two predetermined pressures. Avicel, dicalcium phosphate (DCP) and pregelatinized starch (PGS) were used as directly compressible...
متن کاملModified Starch and Its Potentials as Excipient in Pharmaceutical Formulations
These are additives used to convert pharmacologically active compounds into pharmaceutical dosage forms suitable for administration to patients [1]. Although excipients are the non-active ingredients, they are essential in the successful production of acceptable solid dosage forms such as tablets and powders. For example, the lack of filling materials would make it exceedingly challenging, if n...

Direct compression is the preferred method for the preparation of tablets. Co-processing is the one of the most widely explored and commercially utilized method for the preparation of directly compressible vehicles. The objective of the present study is to prepare and characterize pregelatinized starch-poly vinyl pyrrolidone (PGS-PVP) co-processed excipient and to evaluate its application as di...
متن کاملCloning, expression, and characterization of soluble starch synthase I cDNA from taro (Colocasia esculenta Var. esculenta).
Soluble starch synthase I (SSSI) cDNA was isolated from taro (Colocasia esculenta var. esculenta) by RT-PCR and rapid amplification of cDNA ends reaction. The transcript of this single-copy gene is 2340 bp and encodes 642 amino acids protein containing a putative transit peptide of 54 residues. Recombinant SSSI protein displayed both primer-dependent and primer-independent activities of starch ...
